About TRRAIN Pankh - Wings of Destiny
According to the 2011 census, there are approximately 2.7 Crore Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in India and the heart-wrenching truth is that their employability is less than 1%. There are many reasons for this extremely low number. Through the TRRAIN Pankh programme we aim to tackle 3 barriers that are responsible for this situation:
1) Lack of skilling/training of PwDs.
2) Lack of employment opportunities for PwDs.
3) The importance of their inclusion in the retail and allied industries.
Launched in 2011, TRRAIN’s Pankh programme works towards creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) by training and providing them with employment opportunities in retail and allied sectors, thereby also promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry.

How the TRRAIN Pankh programme works
NGO partnerships
TRRAIN Pankh ties up with local NGOs, across the country, that work with PwDs. Through these partnerships, TRRAIN Pankh conducts mobilisation drives thus helping the NGOs in their task, and in turn establishing a pan India presence for TRRAIN Pankh.
Post recruitment, TRRAIN Pankh provide support to recruiters in order to help them match roles with a person's disabilities & conduct sensitisation workshops for the recruiter.
Skills training
TRRAIN Pankh offers a complete spectrum of retail specific skills for PwDs.
These skills not only allow them a more sustainable livelihood, but also ensures a sense of lifelong support for Persons with Disabilities.
The highlights include:
- 45 days training
- Life skills
- English language skills
- Retail specific skills such as Retail Math, Customer Handling, Cashiering, Computers and Work Readiness.
- Post training students get NSDC & Retailers Association Skill Council of India (RASCI) certification
